Redglass Tower

Redglass Tower is a proposed residential skyscraper planned to be located in the Southbank precinct of Melbourne, Australia. The tower is planned to have 120 floors, and will be 400m high above ground. The tower is due to start construction in early 2020 and an eight-year construction period is expected.

The tower will be 400m above ground, and will have a cylindrical shape to it. To picture it, think of a sausage, but with a flat top and bottom. The main floors will be plated in red glass, and gold plated steel rods will travel around the entire building horizontally, along with the glass panels, in a horizontal spiral. Picture wrapping lots of red glass panels around the building. On each steel rod, millions of small colored light globes will be attached with wire (which will be painted gold to camouflage with the rods), so that at night different patterns can be made. This is almost the same sort of light design as the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium and the Beijing Water Cube. Construction cost of the tower is estimated at AUD$90 Million.

The tower has proposed that is will be used for residential purposes. The tower will include restaurants, a swimming pool on it’s roof, an observation deck and other bars and cafe’s. The swimming pool on it’s roof will be surrounded by a glass panel in the shape of a cylinder, in order to prevent suicidal events and murders occurring. The glass is cylindrical to fit with the shape of the building.
